Dungannon Limousins reach 6000gns peak
Limousin trade at Dungannon yesterday saw a wealth of breeders and commercial cattlemen pack the sale ring to secure new herd sires and with the sale gaining export status it was no surprise a number of cattle headed to buyers from mainland UK.
Topping the sale was the pre-sale show champion Carmon Cantona from Francis McAuley, Toomebridge, Co Antrim. By the great breeding sire Wilodge Vantastic and out of Jockey daughter Carmorn Rosie, Cantona sold to local farmer and butcher Derek Frew for his Frewstown pedigree herd.
Second top call of 3600gns was paid twice, the first time for the senior and reserve overall champion from the pre-sale show, Moneynabane Ciaran from the Rodgers family, Hillhead Rd, Dromore. Ciaran is by French sire Soldat and out of Erne Mayoress and sold to S McConville, Ballyholland.
The other transaction at this money came for the reserve senior champion from the pre-sale show, Crewelands Colombo. By French sire Notable and out of Crewelands Tamara, vendor P J Donnelly sold this one to J McCloskey, Claudy, Co Londonderry.
Leading the female trade was a 3500gns bid for two year old heifer Bridgeford Cody from B McElroy, Dromara. A Sympa daughter out of Lynderg Lucille, she sold to Alan Kennedy, Lisburn, Co Antrim.
Next best was a 2800gns sale for the female champion from the pre-sale show Ballyrickard Cynthia from Ian Davidson. Cynthia is by Millbrook Vic and out of Ballyrickard Trixi and sold to D McNamee, Newtonstewart, Co Tyrone.
