Dungannon Simmentals sell to 6600gns
Simmental prices bit a high of 6600gns for bulls and 5200gns for heifers at last week’s NI Simmental Cattle Breeders’ Club’s sale at Dungannon.
Sale leader at 6600gns was the male and supreme overall champion Omorga Baldwin. Sired by Omorga Volvo he is out of Blackford Explosion daughter, Omorga Daffodil 4 and has an SRI of +34. He was knocked down to AI Services (NI), Newtonabbey.Next best at 5000gns was the reserve male champion, Omorga Byron. This one is by Omorga Murray and is out of the Raceview King daughter, Omorga Bambi 1. He has an SRI of +29 and was bought by Malcolm Fleming, Magherafelt.
Also at 5000gns was Omorga Benson. This one is by E20,000 Curaheen Tyson and is out of a home-bred dam by 21,000gns Corrick Kentucky Kid, Omorga Marcia. He went home with John McCoy, Dromore.
Next best at 3700gns was Kilbride Farm Berratoft from Billy Robson, and sons, Michael and Norman. He is by 15,000gns Cairnview Snazzy and is out of a Carnkern Titan sired dam. With an SRI of +37 he sold to pedigree breeder Clive Houldey for the Manor Park herd, Lauder, Berwickshire.
Female trade reached a ceiling of 5200gns, paid to Raymond and Joan Porter for their female and reserve supreme champion, Killynure Arlene. This Omorga Murray daughter is out of Carnkern Titan daughter, Killynure Ruby . Sold in-calf to Hillcrest King she went to Leslie and Christopher Weatherup’s Lisglass herd, Ballyclare.Averages; 13 bulls ÂŁ3247, 11 females ÂŁ2315 (Dungannon Farmers Mart).
