Dunnerdale head Beeston Castle Holsteins at 5400gns
The Dunnerdale herd of Wilson and Stephen Boow dominated last week’s mid-month Holstein sale at Beeston Castle, taking the top four prices, including the leading bid of 5400gns.
Taking the top call for the partnership was Dunnerdale Toystory Gail, the champion from the pre-sale show. This one is a Toystory daughter bred from eight generations of Ex of VG dams. She sold to J T Parking, Barnard Castle, at 5400gns.
Second best was Dunnerdale Shottle Sabrina 2. Bred from six generations of Ex and VG cows, this Picston Shottle daughter was sold giving 42kg a day. She was snapped up at 3300gns
by an undisclosed buyer.
Selling at 3150gns was Dunnderdale FC Sabrina 3, a Gillette Final Cut daughter bred from the same family as Shottle Sabrina 2. She was knocked down to Hywel and Sheila Evans, Llansilin, Oswestry, giving 34.6kg a day.
And the fourth best of the day, again from the Boows, was a 2350gns bid for Dunnerdale Sonny Helen. She is by homebred sire Sunnerdale Sonny, a Mr Sam son, and is from two generations of Ex classified dams. This one went to Michael George for his Brynhyfryd herd, Haverfordwest.
Close behind that at 2250gns was Fingan Jasper Nellie from Ballakillingan Farm. This is a Wilcoxview Jasper daughter out of a Second-Look Jolt-sired dam. She went to D and H E Colcough and Son, Sandbach.
And making 2120gns was Fordswood Baxter Music from J and J M Walmsley. Sired by Emerald-ACR-SA T-Baxter, she is out of a Regancrest Mr Samuelo-sired dam and was bought by Michael George.
