East of England Show 2011: Beef interbreed championship

 

1862011 Beef Shorthorn web .jpgA British Shorthorn bull has secured the interbreed beef championship title.

 

Trojan of Craigeassie was out forward by local farmer, Harry Horrell, Pode Hole Farm, Peterborough in what was the bull’s first outing this year.

 

Craigeassie is by Belmore Fuel Injected and out of Kathleen of Craigeassie and was bought at Perth as a two year old for 6,000gns. He sired 14,500gns bull, Podehole Beefeater, who has won several Scottish interbreed championships this season.

 

This one is the main stock bull for Horrell’s herd of 50 Shorthorn cows and will now be heading to the Highland and Great Yorkshire Shows.

 

In reserve was a British Blue from Mr Matthew Jones, Sunnyside Farm, Shrewsbury. This August 2009 born heifer is by Gitan Du P’Tit Mayeur and out of Bringlee Beth.

Padfield and Barwood, Brambles, Potter Heigham, triumphed in the commercial beef championship, taking home the top title with a Blonde D’Aquitaine cross heifer, Ladybird and reserve with thier Limousin cross heifer, Smarty Pants.
