East of England Show kicks in to gear

It’s the first day of the East of England Show today which has seen a bumper entry of livestock forward. here’s a few snippets of what’s been winning int he beef lines this morning, apologies it’s not come sooner I’ve been showing Simmentals in the rain!

TS E OF E Angus  web.jpgLeading the way in the Aberdeen-Angus classes under judge Wanda Hobbs of the Ellin and Wedderlie herds in Berwickshire was TW Ives and Sons with Winslow Lord Harry, a February 2009 born son of Haymount Wruz.

Taking reserve was Andrew Brown with Hawstead Lodge Bonny Bride, a March 2009-born daughter of the senior herd sire Nightingale Panmure E281.

TS E OF E Shorthorn Champ web.jpgIn the Beef Shorthorn ring, Nick Barrett took champion with his two year old bull Glenariff Brave Bonnar, which is by Glenariff Washington. Taking the reserve was the Horrell family’s March 2006 born cow and calf Pode Hole Madeline Zeta by Chapelton Promoter.

TS E OF E Lim web.jpgChampion Limousin under gary swindlehurst was Ironstone Dumandy from Smiths of Bloxham. By wilodge Vantastic, this September 2008-born heifer is out of Bailea Umandy, while the reserve went to their recently purchased bull Gorrycam Diarra by Sympa out of Honeylodge Ava. 

TS E OF E British Blue web.jpgThe British Blues were judged by Mel Lucas, Northern Ireland and he found his champion in David Plested’s January 2009-born heifer Chalford Manor Elite, by Tamhorn Sumo out of Lukeroyal Wee Beauty. Reserve went to the Dunn family with their August 2009 born bull Drift Domino, by Twyning Ash Troy out of Cowden Blackberry.  

The Hereford classes were won by Carolyn Fletcherwho made the long journey down from Cumbria with her cow Barwise 1 Ansie by Barwise 1 Wellington. The reserve went to Kevin and Simon Hasemore’s bull Rathregan Mark Robin, by Rathregan Marcus Robin.
