Emslies females sell to 16,500gns at first production sale
Demand to secure females from the first production sale of Harry Emslie’s Limousin herd was strong at the weekend with a top price of 16,500gns for an in-calf Sympa daughter out of the herd’s noted French cow Ubonie.
October 2011 born, Emslies Guerlain has muscle, power, thickness and breed character and is a maternal sister to the 37,000gns Emslies Frenchman. Buying the top price lot, which also had a Beef Value of LM+37, was Drew Hyslop for his Newshot pedigree herd at Myrtle Cottage, School Brae, Haugh-of-Urr, Castle Douglas.
The herd was first founded in 2003 and demand to secure some of the top genetics resulted in the sale grossing more than £400,000.
Next in the money at 15,000gns was Emslies Duchess, a Saloman daughter out of Ballymoney Veronica. Duchess, who stood second to Ironstone Dumandy at the Royal Highland Show in 2012 sold in a half share to Walter Wight, Melrose, Roxburghshire along with Doug Mash, Chesham, Buckinghamshire.
Also at the same money was Emslies Ieryl, a young heifer out of the Ballymoney Veronica daughter Emslies Eryl. Eryl’s calves have already seen some high prices, with a 15,000gns achieved for her first calf, Emslies Hendreron at Stirling Bull Sales last year. She sold with a Beef vale of LM +34 which is within the top 10% of the breed to Aileen Ritchie, Tamara, Burnside, Whitecairns, Aberdeen
Two lots then sold at 12,000gns. First to make this money was Emslies Farah, a Procters Cavalier daughter out of Ballymoney Sarah. She sells to Colin Lewis, Welshpool, Powys.
Emslies Gillian was the next to sell at 12,000gns. This clean muscled heifer by Ulm and out of Kaprico Chrysanthemum, has already has calves selling to 6,500gns. She headed home with JL Woodward, Thorpe Saint Andrews, Norwich with a Beef Value of LM +35.
Other top prices included two lots at 9,500gns. First at this money was Emslies Black Galaxy, a black female from the Pennys Tess family. By Bailea BMW, she is out of Emslies Curlywurly and sold with a Beef Value of +48 to Neil Barclay, Insch, Aberdeenshire.
Also at 9,500gns was Emslies Glitzy a Emslies Colossus daughter by the 20,000gns Wilodge Ritzy. With a Beef Value of LM +38 she sold to TP Atkinson, Newland, Ulverston, Cumbria.
