English Winter Fair: Beef results

After a hard fought out contest in the beef championship judges Jimmy Mulholland and P David finally tapped out Gilbert Brooke’s Limousin x heifer as their champion. Roxy Rose was bought at the Brecon show potential sale in February for 3,100gns and had much success over the summer show season picking up eight championship titles out of a possible 10. Rose is by Haltcliffe Chico and was bred by E Jones, Lampeter.

Judge Mr Mulholland who is a butcher near Carlisle said there was little in it between the champion and reserve. “The champion was just so stylish with tremendous character and is a real butchers animal. She is quality head to tail.”

In the native beef lines it was B E Williams’ Angus Oakchurch Dawn out of Oakchurch Dictator that took the champion title. This is the first outing this year for the 16 month old homebred beast who next heads to Smithfield. In reserve was M Kirby’s Angus Blackcroft Dizzy Rascal.
