English Winter Fair:Dutch Texels take champ title

In The sheep ring it was Steve and Sara Gibbons, Hay-one Wye that took the title with their pair of homebred Dutch Texels. This February born pair have not been out this year and will not be out again.

In reserve was a pair of March born Beltex’s weighing 43kg from David Wadland, Northamptonshire. This is the first time they have been shown this year and will next be appearing at the East of England Winter Fair.

 Judge Martin Brown who farms in North Yorkshire said: “The champion pair were full of meat in shoulder, had unbelievable width and carried the meat down in to the loin and leg. They were finished to the point of perfection,” he said.
