EX Factor Holsteins hit 28,000gns

The event of the Summer took place at Borderway Sales Centre with the World Wide Sires Ex-Factor Sale, attended by breeders from all over the British Isles and Main Land Europe.

Top price was paid for Acecroft Goldwyn Zulu at 28,000gns. This September born bull is a son of the Million Dollar Durham, Lylehaven Lila-Z. The bull’s new owners The Z Syndicate managed by Dan Hovden, Iowa, in the US are excited about the tremendous opportunities this young sire brings to their business.

Although the bull wasn’t actually present for the sale, his 20% ownership share was greated with great interest.

Second top price of the day was paid for a first choice Advent heifer from Windy-Knoll View Pledge EX92. Consigned by David Robinson of Kellywell Holsteins, this amazing money making opportunity was purchased by Michael Booth Snr and Michael Booth Jnr, Beechrow Holsteins, Co. Lois, Republic of Ireland for 10,000gns.

Incidentally Mr Booth purchased the Mr Sam daughter from Pledge’s full sister the night before in Oldenburg for 15,000 euro.

Riverdane Shottie Sara sold for 6000gns to Jason Pollock, Garrick Holsteins, Northern Ireland. This beautiful Shottle daughter was consigned by Riverdane Holsteins and was a grand-daughter of the All Britain Copywood Integrity Sara EX93.

%28hutch%29H33aSBLOG.jpgSpainish buyer Quim Serrabassa, Triangle Holsteins purchased Drointon Journalist Sara for 4000gns. Journalist Sara stood first in the Autumn Calf class at the National Holstein Show in 2007 and will be a big player in the European Show scene in the next 12 months.

Mr Serrabassa commented “Sara is one of the fanciest young heifers I have seen for some time and look forward to showing her at he Spanish National Show.” Also going to Spain is Drointon Jordan Vick who sold for 1800gns to the same buyer.

Selling for 5000gns was one of the fanciest Shottles to grace any sale ring in the UK. Kilvergan Shottle Amy a descendant from the Canadian Cow of the Year Sunnylodge Prelude Spottie. This calf was consigned by Timothy Haffey, Kilvergan Holsteins, Northern Ireland and now joins the breeding enterprise at Smiddiehill Holsteins.

One of the most talked about lots in this year’s sale was Dunnerdale Talent Sabrina 2, this silky hided Talent daughter is bred from one of the UK’s hottest cow families. She was consigned by Wilson Boow, Dunnerdale Holsteins and now joins Noel Willis’ Conncorr Herd in Northern Ireland for 4800gns.

Smiddiehill Holsteins sold Smiddiehill Dundee Tina, a strong and powerful heifer from the amazing Inspiration Tina family. This calf sold for 4600gns in partnership to Messrs R H Martin and Son, Roevalley Holsteins and Philip Oliver, Ansa Holsteins.

Top price Jersey was paid by Willie and Jo Templeton, Syke Holsteins, Ayrshire for Braymeadow Lends Sophie VG89 3yr old. This exceptional Jersey is backed up by 3 generations of VG dams and has all the class and style to win the big shows this summer. She sold for 3800gns and was consigned by Messrs Howie, Jovial Jerseys.

Selling for 3700gns was Rapidbay-UK Signature Belle sired by Family Hill Avery Signature. This beautiful young Jersey descends from the 4 times All Canadian Duncan Belle EX, regarded by many as the Jersey Queen of the Breed. She was bought in partnership by R and E Butterfield, Ingleview Holsteins and Tony Burton, World Wide Sires entrepreneur, consigned by James Strachan and Candace Borland, Rapidbay-UK.

Messrs S and S Murray Ltd, Shipley Bank Farm, Wolverhampton purchased Rapidbay-UK Whistlers Shimmer VG86 2yr for 2300gns. Shimmer recently fresh in February and projected to make an impressive first lactation also has amazing show potential for the incoming year.

Clydevalley Jerseys sold an impressive Sultan daughter from last years Ayr Show Champion for 1950gns to Mr AM Haig, Airyhemming, Glenluce.

Sired by Stormatic and obtaining show winning style Evening Stormatic Fogey VG89 3yr sold for 4400gns to an undisclosed buyer, represented by Cameron Baty, Tynevalley Holsteins. Fogey was consigned by James and Louise Wilson, Evening Holsteins who also sold Evening Jasper Kitty for 3000gns P Haffey, Glasson Holsteins.
