Fast trade for friesians at York

A packed ringside at York Livestock Centre witnessed a fast trade for Friesians with a top price of 1900gns for a freshly calved heifer by Moet Nansen.

Chiplodge Nan Damaris 8 formed part of a consignment of fresh and close to calving cows and heifers from C T Stonehouse and Son’s Chiplodge herd, which is being dispersed as the cattle come to profit.

Also among the fresh heifers was an entry from the Autumn, Millons and Winton herds. Top price for this section was 1800gns paid by W B Ritchie Farms for Millons Delight 25.

Sale goers also witnessed the sale of the entire adult portion of Geoff and Yvonne Marshall’s unregistered non-recorded herd, which reached a top price of 1800gns for a third calf daughter of Dovea Sem. This one sold to R W Wood and Co, Stillington.

The Marshall‘s cattle were predominantly Friesian type from a hard moorland farm in Spaunton, Pickering. Buyers spotted their potential and were keenly contested in the ring with the next best price of 1750gns going to a third calver by Tittenser Hyllke. She went to T Sedgewick and Sons, Sedgefield, Co Durham.
