Results are in from the Royal Smithfield Club’s National Festival of Meat competitions here at Countryside Live and taking the championship honours in the Beef Ribs competition was Michael Read with a Limousin cross heifer which had a carcass weight of 302.8kg.
Reserve champion here went to T V Davie’s heifer which stood second to Michael in the class. This was also a Limousin cross and had a carcass weight of 333kg.
In the Saddle of Lamb competition the winner was W Evans with a saddle from a 19kg Beltex x Texel wether lamb. Reserve was the second placed lamb from the same class, a saddle from a 20kg Charollais x Mule wether from Messrs Pritchard Bros.
