Flying store lamb trade at Ashford
Today’s season opening store lamb sale at Ashford got things off with a bang, with 4613 sheep penned and a tremendous demand through the whole sale.
The overall average of ÂŁ63.90 compares very favourably with the ÂŁ50.13 achieved at the same sale in 2010 and is way ahead of the trade in 2009 when the opening sale averaged ÂŁ42.
Elwyn Davies of auctioneers Hobbs Parker said the trade was tremendous from start to finish and many more could be sold with the best stores selling readily at around ÂŁ70, medium sorts around ÂŁ65 and only small, longer term stores below ÂŁ60.
