French stock dominate Trafford Limousin reduction

French bred stock dominated last week’s major reduction sale of the Trafford herd of Limousins at Carlisle, with an in-calf cow with a heifer at foot topping trade at 7000gns.

The sale leader, Ubonie is by Nenuphar and out of Moutarde, a Gaillard daughter and sold with an unregistered heifer calf at foot, and having run with Arius, to Harry Emslie, Kinknockie, Peterhead.

The stock bull, Umilio, sold for the next best price of 5200gns to G W Jones, Aberystwyth. This one was by Renault and out of Surprise.

Another bull, Bonneval, by Poseidon and out of Urania, sold to J M Davies and Sons, Abbey Farm, Denbighshire, for 4500gns.

The served heifer, Barbouze, went for the next best price of 2900gns. This one was by Magique and out of Lolaita and sold to Paul Dawes, Kipperknowle Farm, Hereford.

The same buyer also purchased another served heifer, Bergerie, for 2800gns. She is by Radieux and out of Neva and was served by Vallon.

Aba, by Tarzan and out of Toupie, went for 2700gns to W G and D Wilkinson, Tilberthwaite Farm, Cumbria. This one also ran with Vallon.

The maiden heifer, Charteb, sold to J W Dent and Son, Naby View, County Durham for the next best price of 2600gns. This one was by Pompier and out of Russuleb.

At the same money was stock bull, Bambino, which is by Vivaldi and out of Targette. He sold to H Tulip and Son, Hipsburn Farm, Northumberland.

The next best price of 2500gns was matched by four entries. The first of which was the served heifer, Asie, bought by an undisclosed buyer. This one was by Tartarin and out of Reserve.

The second at this level was Amabelle, by Poseidon and out of Jolie, which sold to Jonathan Watson, Bowsden Moor, Northumberland.

The third at this money was Brioude, which sold to Gaich Farms, Morayshire. This served heifer is by Magique and out of Telle.

Baviereb, sold to C and E Ogg, Buchaam Farm, Aberdeenshire. This one was by Ramses and out of Umfatab
