Fresh heifer makes 2,000gns at Devon dairy sale

A strong demand for fresh cows at Kivells dairy sale last week (12 June) saw prices top 2,000gns for the fresh heifer Whitehills Tiergan Jane 34 sired by Ballycairn Tiergan from Derek Pyle, Clyst Honiton who sold another heifer by Aintree Prudent at £1,800.

British Friesian heifers met keen demand and topped at £1,780 for Heather Bond and daughters, Bovey Tracey. Three Pedigree Ayrshire heifers from Gordon Davis sold well at £1,550, £1,500 and £1,450

A strong cow trade topped at £1,820 for a third calving British Friesian from Messrs C Steer and Sons, South Brent, with others to £1,550 and £1,500 from Gordon Davis.

The Dispersal sale of the mainly autumn calving British Friesian herd on behalf of Messrs JW Davies and Sons, Tiverton met huge demand and sold to a tremendous trade. The herd topped at 1,820gns (£1911) for a dry cow by Penn England Garrison due her second calf in July.
