Freshly calved heifers top 2,000gns at Ross sale
Freshly calved heifers sold to 2,020gns and 2,000gns at Ross. Both commercial heifers were consigned by Adrian Ractliffe of Gloucester. Buying the top priced Himster Grandprix sired heifer was David Rees of Crickhowell, Breconshire. The 2,000gns Picston Shottle sired heifer was purchased by John Cracknell of Chepstow, Monmouthshire.
Cows sold to 1,650gns for a 2nd calver from Will and Sarah May of Bromsgrove, Worcestershire, being purchased by Mr Russell Albert and family of Tenbury Wells, Worcestershire.
The three year old Holstein stock bull Tregibby Amazing from Philip Sevenoaks, Llangorse, Breconshire, sold for 1,400gns to Paul Rymer, Chepstow.
Recently served heifers from the dispersal sale of the Doghill herd for Huw Williams of St Nicholas, Cardiff, Vale of Glamorgan, sold to 800gns, bull heifers to 710gns and heifer calves to 500gns.
Despite the recent wet weather and cuts in milk price, auctioneer Gwilym Richards was very pleased with the trade with all cattle finding new homes.
