Frewstown Limousins sell to 2750gns

Derek Frew’s 25th Anniversary Sale hit the target at Ballymena Mart with a complete clearance selling to a top call of 2750gns.

The catalogue featured the entire 2010 crop of weaned calves from his Frewstown Limousin prefix, many of which were sired by his stock bull Carmorn Cantona.

Topping the sale at 2750gns was Frewstown Forbo, a superb Cantona son born in July 2010. This exciting young prospect is out of Frewstown Bo, a Mereside Topman daughter and had received considerable attention prior to the auction. The purchasers were Gareth and Will Corrie, Newtownards.

The same buyers proved hard to stop when it came to quality as they added Frewstown Frewsone to their shopping list at 2500gns. He is out of Frewstown Babs, another Topman daughter.

Heifers were also in demand reaching heights of 2200gns paid on two occasions for Frewstown Fantastic and Frewstown Frantastic. These were both sired by the 42,000 guineas Wilodge Vantastic and were snapped up by Newry based breeder Peter Murphy for his Carrickaldreen herd. Fantastic is out of Frewstown Useful, a Haltcliffe Premier daughter, while Frantastic is out of Frewstown Bigbertha, another Topman daughter.
