Taking the top slot at Gisburns dairy sale last week with his pedigree Ladys-Manor Ashmore sired heifer, was Jeremy Taylor, Broughton, Skipton.  She sold to David Coulthurst, Goosnargh, Preston for £2,380 giving 37 litres.

Having to settle for second place was Philip Critchley, Wrea Green, Preston, with his Holbra Paman sired heifer, which sold for a fraction less at £2,300 to William Oldfield, Gisburn, Clitheroe.

Commercial heifers topped £2,120 for a heifer from Brian Hall, Gargrave, Skipton.  She sold to trade topper David Coulthurst, Goosnargh, Preston, giving 32 litres daily.

At the same money was a freshly calved heifer from R Lister, Worston, Clitheroe. She sold to Tom Green, Wigan, Lancashire. A third calver from the same home also headed home with Mr Green for £2,060.

Next best at £1,900 was Pete Dakin’s first prize cow, from Bolton by Bowland, Clitheroe, when selling to Hill and Davies, Wrexham, North Wales.
