Gisburn’s first pig Christmas pig show tops £110

Gisburn Auction Marts held their first Christmas pig show and sale on Saturday and show judge and wholesale butcher Steven Taylor, Preston gave the overall championship to a pair of Pietran cross porkers from Craven farmer Kit Dean. These later sold for £110 a head.

The reserve champions, a pair of Saddleback weaners from Marjorie Parrington, Skipton sold for £32 a head.

The best pair of store pigs went to T A Horn, Appleby, Cumbria and sold for £50 a head, while the best pair of breeding pigs went to Mr Easthaam, Wigan, which sold for £120 a head.
