Great Yorkshire dairy title to Holstein
Leading the way in the dairy classes was the Holstein champion, Saxelby Goldwyn Rose from Robert and Elaine Butterfield, Bentham, Yorkshire. This is a third calved February 2006-born Goldwyn daughter bred by Andy Stafford. She calved her third in June and was lucky to be at the show having suffered a displaced abomasum just 11 days beforehand. Giving 50kg a day, she was reserve breed champion at the Highland Show and gave 12,375kg in her second lactation at 4.55% butterfat and 3.5% protein.
In reserve spot here was the Jersey champion, first calved heifer Grayridge Comerica Vivacious, a Bridon Remake Comerica daughter, from the MacKellar family, led out by David Gray, she is currently yielding 25kg a day having calved her first in April.
