The outfit is owned by Doug Mash, Chesham, Buckinghamshire and was shown by Dougie McBeath and Ben Bellew.  Sired by Graham Sampson and out of Ronick McAinsi, Mr Mash said Brockhurst Bolshoi “loves the show ring” and she’s on a winning streak, taking two other breed titles this season: Royal Highland and Royal Bath and West. Her son, Brockhurst Elvis also won male breed champion today.

But according to Mr Mash, this or The Royal Welsh might be her last outing as he’s considering retiring her.

Returning this year to claim the reserve prize was last year’s junior and native breed champion,  Galloway heifer Nerys 1307 Romesbeoch. Bred and exhibited by John and Selina Ross, Dumfries and Galloway, she is sired by Kirkmabreck Nimrod and out of a Doon of Urr Nerys 42nd.

Also reserve champion at The Royal Highland this year, Mr Ross said he was “absolutely delighted” with her. She is due to calve late September or early October by the sire Turbo Tam of Nether Cleugh.

Judge Danny Wyllie, Tamworth, Staffordshire said: “From the first moment they all came out these two stood out. They’ve got outstanding mobility with a leg in each corner. The champion is tremendously well fleshed with a good bull calf. The reserve is much younger and will be tremendous in a few years.”
