Born in July 2014, Coal Yeat Peterbilt was sired by Whitehill Peterbilt and its dam is Coal Yeat Judy who won the 2014 title of the same class.

Mr Sutcliffe has 20 pedigree Hampshires and Saddlebacks in Lowick, South Cumbria.

The champion was described as a “wonderful example of the breed” by judge Robin Swanton from Marlborough, Wiltshire, who used to have 250 Large White and Landrace sows. “It’s a standout boar, very well grown, it’s sound and moves well”.

Coal Yeat Peterbilt will be shown at the Great Eccleston Show and the Anglesey Show.

Mr Swanton gave the reserve prize to 23-year-old Alice Newth’s homebred British Landrace Prestcombe Vega, from Prestleigh, Somerset.

Born in July 2014 she is sired by Daintree Nekton 2 and has won a plethora of trophies already this show season, including breed champion at Bath and West, Devon County and the Royal Cornwall shows.

She is due her first litter at the end of August.
