Hallfield bulls take top three prices at Blonde sale

(hutch)157s web.jpgJames Weightman was certainly the Blonde breeder leaving Borderway Mart with the broadest smile after taking the top three prices with bulls from his family’s Hallfield herd in Co Durham as well as both the supreme and reserve supreme championships.

Hallfield Forger led the trade at 6200gns heading back to Co Durham with Barnard Castle buyers Sanderson and Bell. Forger, who also took the supreme ticket, is by the Weightman’s stock bull Blackwater Ainsley who has already produced a string of good priced sons from Hallfield. With a Beef Value of 30, Forger is out of a Megray Senator sired dam.

(hutch)169s web.jpg Taking the reserve title and making 6000gns was Hallfield Falcon – another son of Ainsley and out of a cow by the consistent producer Whistley Dollar. Falcon – Beef Value 18 – goes to George Hamilton, Duns, Berwickshire.

Making it a top trio for the Weightmans – who sold four bulls on the day to average £5050 – was Hallfield Fitz. By Doncombe Ayers Rock – another of the herd’s stock bulls – Fitz is out of a Ballygowan Noble sired cow and was bought by John Scott, Hexham, Northumberland.

Shap, Penrith buyer Mike Harrison paid the top price for females giving 2500gns for the served heifer Stubbswalden Faith (below) from K and A Jackson, Doncaster. She is by Stubbswalden Vangogh.
