Haltcliffe heifer sale hits 30,000gns – Updated
Topping this afternoon’s Haltcliffe heifer sale as part of the Limousin Society’s 40th anniversary weekend was a 30,000gns bid from John Elliot Jnr, Roxburgh Mains, for the first lot in the sale, the pick of the Haltcliffe 2009 heifer crop. I’ve no details of which heifer will be heading back to the borders with to join the new herd yet, but I’ll update this as soon as I know any more.
Second best was a 20,000gns bid for the catalogue cover girl, Haltcliffe Encore. This one is by Procters Commander and out of Haltcliffe Camilla, a Cloughead Umpire daughter and has a beef value of +39. She sold to David Kenwell, Dromore, Co Tyrone, for the Kendrom herd. And making 15,000gns was Haltcliffe Epson. This is a September 2009-born heifer out of Haltcliffe Ava, an Umpire daughter and by Sympa. This thick, fleshy heifer sold with a beef value of +27. This one was snapped up by Helen Redden, Shieldfield, Berwick Upon Tweed, to join the Meadowrigg herd.
At the same price was Haltcliffe Flower, a Cloughhead Umpire daughter out of Haltcliffe Acapulco, a Sympa daughter. Selling with a beef value of +34 and was taken by P J Murphy, Mullaghbawn, Newry, for the Carrickaldreen herd. Then at 10,000gns was Haltcliffe Fyne, a Cloughhead Umpire daughter out of Haltcliffe Amazon, a Haltcliffe Novel daughter with a beef value of +26. This one sold to R S Harker and Son, Grayrigg, Kendal.
And just shy of that at 9000gns was a pair of embryos which sold to David and Margaret Kelly, Nether Hall. These were by Sympa or Haltcliffe Vermount and out of Cloughhead Romany, an Oasis daughter.
