Hampshire Down takes Suffolk Show sheep title
Taking the interbreed sheep title at Suffolk Show this morning under judge Brian Glaves was the Hampshire Down champion, a shearling ram from David and Denise Middleditch, Bury St Paul.
This one is a son of Wattisfield Jimmy, a tup bred in Jim Cresswell’s Wattisfield flock and is out of a homebred ewe which goes back to Megalad. This was the couple’s first interbreed win with their 15 ewe flock.
Standing reserve overall was the Suffolk champion, a shearling ewe from Merrick and Julie Pinny’s Alloaks flock. She is a daughter of Cairness Corker and is out of a homebred dam. She stood first at Suffolk last year as a lamb and stood second at the Royal. The standings were reversed in the pairs class, with the Suffolk duo beating the Hampshire brace into second place.
