Harviestoun Charolais females to 9,500gns at Stirling

Charolais were in demand selling to 9,500gns in  Stirling on Saturday when the Harviestoun and Klibreck herds came were dispersed on behalf of Lucy Poett, Dollar, Perthshire and I Mackay, Watten, Caithness, respectively.

 

Leading the sale at 9,500gns was Harviestoun Vanilla TI +38, SRI +34, an eight year old cow by Lochend Rasper out of a homebred dam and her March born bull calf Harviestoun Heathcliff by Ravensworth Unwin, knocked down sold to N C Smith and Sons, Lesmahagow, Lanarkshire.

 

Three Harviestoun entries shared a 5,500gns bid. First to go was Harviestoun Gladioli TI + 69, SRI +53, a Doonally New sired maiden heifer out of a homebred cow, was purchased by N O’Kane, Kildress, County Tyrone.        

 

Also secured for 5,500gns was Harviestoun Goldie TI +36, SRI +40. This 17 month old heifer was by the 38,000gns Goldies Champion, out of a homebred dam and sold to A B Hornall, Stirling, Stirlingshire.

 

The final 5,500gns bid was made Harviestoun Festival TI +61, SRI +48, a two year old bull by Doonally New, purchased by E Parsons, Laxey, Isle of Man.

 

Back in the females and Barochan Trinket, a 10 year old by Barochan Petral and out of Thrunton Hostess sold with her 5 month old bull calf, Harviestoun Herman, to H P and L S Whittaker, Cornhill on Tweed, Northumberland for 5,200gns.

 

A second call of 5,200gns secured the three year old Harviestoun Ecosse TI +51, SRI +44, by Ravensworth Unwin and out of a homebred dam and her Burradon Talisman sired 5 month old heifer calf, Harviestoun Harriet, for D Thornley, Swadlingcote, Derbyshire. The same buyer also took home the six year old Harviestoun Bangle TI +45, SRI +47, also by Unwin, whilst her nine month old Doonally New sired daughter, Harviestoun Gabby TI +51, SRI +41, was purchased by H B Allman and Son, Setton St Nicholas, Hertfordshire, totalling 4,450gns.

 

Bids of 5,000gns came twice with the three year old Harviestoun Eileen TI +48, SRI +46, by Harviestoun Bermuda and out of a homebred dam leading the way. This one was sold with her January born commercial steer calf at foot to J Hepburn and Co, Hawick, Roxburghshire.

 

Another three year old heifer, Harviestoun Ember by Ravensworth Eileen TI +63, SRI +50, and her eight month old commercial heifer calf were knocked down sold at 5,000gns to I Thomson, Ellon, Aberdeenshire.

 

The 11 year old Harviestoun Snowdrop TI +59, SRI +50, by Harviestoun Marseille and out of Rushmore Clover, was secured by Messrs Leevy, Aberdollar, along with her 5 month old bull calf Harviestoun Hector at 4,200gns.

 

Harviestoun Elsa TI +50, SRI +48, a three year old by Harviestoun Bermuda and her January born commercial calf claimed a call of 4,000gns from R Mackay, Lybster, Caithness.

 

Second top bull bid at 4,400gns went to the 14 month old bull Harviestoun Gometra TI +43, SRI +39, by Ravensworth Unwin and out of Barochan Topaz for J Irvine and Son, Ballindalloch, Banffshire.
