It seems the Mule ewe lambs buyers just can’t stop bidding this year, with Monday’s sale at Hawes seeing a new centre record price of £560 paid and the 13,575 sold levelling the day at £91.87.
Top pen came from R A Busby and Son, Marrick and stood first in the show. Second prize winners were from D A and M A Brown and sold at £230, thrid prize went to W A and A Booth, with these making £305.
The sale’s second day on Tuesday saw 12,224 lambs penned and a top price of £380 paid for the third prize pen from Messrs Lord, North Stainmore. First prize winners came from E Fairburn and Sons, Thornton Steward and made £350. At £300 were the fifth prize pen from C T and J E Willoughby, Redmire. Tuesdays sale averaged just shy of Monday’s trade at £90.89.
