Heifer wins Welsh national Charolais show
The Welsh national Charolais show, staged at Saturday’s Oswestry Show saw heifer Mortimers Delight claim the overall championship for novice breeder Elizabeth Lee. Delight, a daughter of Ravensworth Alder, was one of four Mortimers females bought as foundation for the Romer herd last year .Standing reserve overall champion was the second prize winner from the same class and this year’s Royal Welsh interbreed winner Esgob Drynwen from Gareth Jones. This one is a Thrunton Virginian daughter.
Male champion was Esgob Euros, also from Mr Jones. This one, also by Virginian, was on his first show outing of the season. Meanwhile, reserve male was Pennal Express from Alwyn Rees. This one is a Dingle Hoffmeister son.
Delight then went on later in the day to claim the interbreed championship, while Euros claimed the interbreed male award and the reserve overall interbreed title.
