Hereford bull Sky High sells in private deal
A Herefordshire bull from Staffordshire-based breeders Boomer Birch and Graham Brindley has sold in a private deal for an undisclosed figure to Heather Whittaker and Jeff Price for their Coley herd of Polled Herefords, Halifax.
Their six-month-old bull Sky 1 Korker, a son of Dorepoll 1 93N Nationwide, is the first animal to be sold from the Sky High herd that was established in 2011.
Korker is out of the Baybridge 1 Atlas daughter Romany 1 Ishbel A84 H34. Ishbel was purchased privately from Robert Wilson after winning the Hereford Calf Show at Agri-Expo 2011, she went on to win Hereford Female of the year 2012 and is one of the herd’s foundation females.
The young bull was much admired at the 2013 National Hereford Calf Show, Shrewsbury, where he was the youngest entry and stood first in his class.
Commenting of the sale Boomer Birch said Korker was a one in a million calf. “He has always been special from the day he was born. From an early age he displayed exceptional growth with outstanding muscle, exceptional width and strength carried throughout and especially over his loin.
“His strong breed character and class is complemented by correctness and style. Graham and I would like to wish Heather and Jeff all the best with him and we look forward to seeing him at shows this year.”
Speaking about the purchase Jeff Price said they were delighted to have bought Korker. “He is a wonderful bull with a great temperament and we look forward to showing him locally and nationally and expect great things from his offspring in due course.”
