Holstein cow sells for 2700gns at Sedgemoor

The Holstein cow, Nortonhill Tessa, sold for the top price of 2700gns at this week’s 20^th Annual Top 10% and Seasonality Sale at Sedgemoor.

This VG88 cow with a PIN+£28 and PLI +£103, was by Opsal Finley and from the famous Dellia family. She was sold by D Willcow, Tiverton, Devon.

At the next best price of 2400gns and topping the calved heifers, was Dinnaton Jordan Talent Fleur. She was one of 12 animals sold by Derek and Jeremy Dennis, Ivybridge.

Ian Dimond of Dorset sold his freshly calved cow, Dorset Fabulous Molly, for 2100gns. This one was by Quality Fabulous and out of a VG86 dam. She was one of nine cows and heifers put forward by Mr Dimond who sold for the day’s highest consignment average of £2011.33.

Selling for the next best money was Dinnaton Capulet, a bull bred by the Dennis family. He is by Goldwyn and from 11 generations of VG or Ex and sold for 1920gns.

A Littlebredy Onside daughter, went for the next highest price of 1750gns. This in- calf heifer is due in August to an Aberdeen Angus bull and was sold by John Redman, Bristol.

An in-calf heifer from Poundhill Farmers of Taunton went for 1700gns. Poundhill Bradley Miranda is out of a 12,000kg dam and is due in August.
