Holstein UK genetic elite sale hits 23,000gns
Yesterday’s genetic elite sale of Holsteins at Carlisle saw some of the finest lines in the UK come under the hammer, with trade peaking at 23,000gns for an October-born Long-Langs Oman Oman daughter.
This was Denmire Manoman Maria from the Dennison family, Ulverston. Out of Denmire Goldwyn Marie 52, this one is ET bred and is maternal sister to a trio of bulls stood at UK and German studs. Dam Marie 52 gave more than 11,000 in her first and more than 12,000 in her second and is maternal sister to heifers which have sold to 19,5000gns. She was bought by W W Neilson, Strathaven, Lanarkshire.
Next best was a 12,000gns bid for an August heifer, Twinfields Shottle Autumn from R W Bainbridge and Son. Sired by Picston Shottle she is ET bred out of Ms Atlees Roy Autumn, a Roylane Jordan daughter classified as VG89 and which was all American yearling in 2008 and junior champion at the World Dairy Expo in 2007. Sold with embryo contracts totalling ÂŁ4000 she went to Brian Yates, Castle Douglas.
Following that was a 7500gns sale for another Shottle daughter, this time Sternda Shot Lassie from Bill Nadin. This one is out of Lylehaven Lassie, a Regancrest Elton Durham daughter. Again ET bred her Ex94 classified dam was reserve champion at the All American Dairy Show in 2007 and gave more than 15,000 litres in her fourth lactation.
A brace of 6000gns bids followed that, with the first securing January heifer Majestic Gerard Leona 2 from Ian and Kenny Watson, Northern Ireland. Ths is a Schillview Oman Gerard daughter out of Majestic Shottle Leona, a Shottle daughter which gave more than 10,000 litres in her heifer lactation. She sold with bull contracts and was bought by an undisclosed buyer.
The other at this price was Drointon Aftershock Edna from Drointon Holsteins. Sired by Ms Atlees Sht Aftershock she is a February-born heifer out of Drointon Ht Edna, a Hartline Titanic daughter classified VG88 with all three of her lactations at 10,000 litres and above. This one was snapped up by P Fenton, Yarlett, Staffordshire.
And making 5000gns was Shanael Asset Sanchez from Shanael Farms and C G Tallif. This Gen-Mark Stmatic Sanchez daughter is out of Morningview Shtl Asset, a VG86 Shottle daughter. She was bought by Messrs Rubenson, Germany.
Then making 4400gns was Bilsrow Goldwyn Ivy from David, Sheila and James Tomlinson. Sired by Braedale Goldwyn this September-born heifer is out of Bilsrow Talent Ivy, a Ladino Park Talent daughter which gave 5940 litres in the first 172 days of her heifer lactation. She sold to T Phillips, Llanfyrnach, Dyfed.
At 4200gns was a December-born Roselund-View Black Starboy daughter, Holmland Starbout Adeen from Messrs Bell and Absolute Genetics.This one is out of Lavenham Adeen, a Regancrest Elton Durham daughter and sold to A Grimshaw, Bolton.
Following close behind at 4000gns was a red heifer from Wilfred Maddocks and family. This was November-born heifer Wyndford Regiment Appletime Red, a Carrousel Regiment Red daughter ET bred out of Ashleigh Amanda, a Ja-Bob Jordan Red daughter. This one found a new home with Thomason Farms, Dairy Lane, Nantwich.
