Holsteins peak at 2520gns at Ross on Wye

The dispersal of Wellington, Hereford, based Richard and Lyn Langford’s loose housed pedigree Auberrow herd of Holstein Friesians which took place at Ross Market attracted buyers from as far afield as West Wales and Cheshire.

 

Their calved heifers sold to 2520gns paid by C M Pugh, Kempley, Gloucester, for Auberrow Louson Dora, a Beverlake Louson daughter off a 8939kg 4.42%F 3.52%P dam, which had been calved 8 weeks and giving 29.2kgs daily.

 

The same buyer paid 2450gns for the Newfailand Mr Frosty sired Auberrow Frosty Fairy.  This 9 week calved heifer was off a 9236kg Keystone Clietus Valvano cow.

 

For 2100gns, the same buyer purchased the 10 week calved heifer Auberrow Frosty Jane which was giving 32kgs daily.  She was also sired by Mr Frosty and the daughter of a 9469kg Valbas Arpagone dam.

 

Another Mr Frosty calved heifer sold for 2100gns to the same buyer – Auberrow Frosty Clara was the daughter of a 9959kg Arpagone dam and had been calved 4 months.

 

Cows sold to 1650gns on three occasions including a 6 calver making 1550gns.

Served heifers sold to 1600gns.

 

Averages: 30 milking cows and heifers £1496.95, seven unwarranted cows £675, two in-calf heifers £1653.75 (Gwilym Richards).
