Holsteins make 10,200gns at black and white sale
Some of the best pedigree black and white cows went under the hammer at the weekend for Borderway Marts’ Black and White pedigree sale, which saw a top price of 10,200gns realised for an April 2013 born Regancrest S Braxton daughter. Sale topper Knowlesmere Brax Missy is out of Morsan Miss Universe and has a PLI +£33 and a PIN of +£12. Consigned by A and J Whittaker she sold to a Bunting and Son, Dumfries.
Three lots then sold at 8,000gns. First in the money was Feizor Windbrook J Flo 2 from WA and A Booth. By Gillette Windbrook and out of Feizor Jordan S Flo 2 she sold with a PLI of +£117 and a PIN of +£25 to HM and D Hodgson, Carlisle, Cumbria.
Next at this money was a high PLI cow and one of the first offerings from Ambrosia, Utopian Merdian G Ambrosia 2 from N Pepper. By Sully Hart Meridian and out of Sahara Goldwyn Ambrosia 4 she sold with a PLI of +£164 and a PIN of +£25 to Designer Holsteins, Essex.
The highest GTPI heifer in the sale was the last lot to sell at 8,000gns. Wiltor Numero Uno Candice by Amighetti Numero Uno was consigned by Claire Jones, Monmouthshire, and is out of Court-Us-Ms Dom Candice. She sold with a GPLI of +£208 and a PIN of +£30 to Drakkar Holsteins, France.
Mrs Jones also sold the next highest lot, Wiltor Snowmaster Sharon at 6,800gns. This Snowmaster daughter is by Washfold Bolton Sharon 2 and is the highest GLPI daughter of Snowmaster in the UK. She headed home with CW and DE Bushby, Egremont, Cumbria.
