Insch dispersal dominates trade at Scottish Club sale

The dispersal of Ian Farquhar’s Insch flock took the bulk of the top prices at Saturday’s (11 January) Scottish Texel Club sale, Lanark, with a peak of 5,200gns paid for a one-crop ewe.

The sale leader, a Glenside Razzle Dazzle daughter, is out of a Garngour Nobleman daughter, and her granddam is a Knock ewe by Glenside Loneranger. Bought by Steven Renwick for the Craig Douglas flock this one was in-lamb to the 2013 Sire of the Year, Strathbogie Terminator.

Another one-crop ewe from the same home then sold at 4,000gns, with this being another by Razzle Dazzle, IIF1100228. Also carrying Knock breeding she is out of a Knock dam by Glenside Mylord and was again in-lamb to Strathbogie Terminator. Buying this one was Eire-based breed J Greene, Donegal.

Also selling at 4,000gns was a gimmer from the Insch dispersal, IIF1200298. An ET-bred shearling, she is again by Razzle Dazzle and is a full sister to the sale leader. Selling in-lamb to Terminator she also headed back to Aberdeenshire with Albert and George Howie for their Knock flock, Peterhead.

Taking a 3,000gns bid was a full ET sister to the sale leader, IIF1100178. Again selling in-lamb to Terminator she was knocked down to Graham Morrison for his Deveronvale flock.

Following her with a bid of 2,300gns was the best of the day from the dispersal of Perry McNickle’s Perry flock, a ewe lamb by Tamnamoney Tuborg Gold. This was MQN1304993, a lamb out of an Ettrick Rainbow Warrior dam and going back to Haddo Knoxie. She was snapped up by Alastair Beaton, Wester Crosshill.

A pair from the Insch offering then sold at 2,000gns, with the first being a Garngour Nobleman daughter out of the granddam of the sale leader. Going back to Glenside Eurostar she was again in-lamb to Terminator. Taking this one home was Gordon Gray for the Ettrick flock, Selkirk.

The other at this money was a full ET bred sister to the 3,000gns gimmer, IIF1200294. Once again sold having been AI’d to Terminator she was taken by R Rendall, Westray, Orkney.

And at 1,700gns was the champion from the Club sale’s pre-sale show, a Deveronvale gimmer from Graham Morrison, MGV1200282. This ET bred gimmer is by Procters Samurai and out of an Ettrick Mighty Mouse dam. She sold in-lamb to Garngour Ultimatum, going to an undisclosed buyer.

Second best from the Club sale was a bid of 1,100gns for a Craig Douglas gimmer from Steven Renwick,  XSR1204831. She is by Walston Rambo and out of a dam by Allanfauld Pharoah and sold having run with homebred sire Craig Douglas Uther. This one found a new home with Gordon Gray.
