International Interest at Devon Society and Sale

The Devon cattle breeders Society attracted French interest; an agent buying for an undisclosed French cattle breeder purchased five females and a bull.

 

Topping the trade and also taking the championship in the show was Simon David and Tracey Andrew’s Wingstone Millennium Raj, bred by Mrs Juliette Rich. This 29 month old son of Ashott Barton Bobby sold at £3255 to Brian Mortimer, Exeter.

Reserve champion was P and S Corner’s Ashott Barton Morgan by Millenium selling to Philip Payne, Salisbury at £3045.

 

Top price in calf heifer, Bartridge Madeline 18, By Brightley Diamond 6, sold to Robert James and Kate Palmer’s Red Down Herd at £3150 consigned by R T and M P Wilson, Umberleigh.

 

Bollowal Showgirl 15 from A J and P D Thomas StJust Penzance sold at £2625 to H Quick, Cullumpton. This section sold well with no fewer than seven lots in four figures and a respectable average.

 

Topping the maiden heifer section was Bollowal Olympia 2 by Bollowal Frederick and out of Crannel’s cow, selling to Steven Potter for export at £1575.

 

Cows and calves topped at £1680 for K W and O Farmer’s Bywood Beauty 74, selling to S Fildes.

 

Averages bull £2009, cows and calves £1058, in calf heifers £1076, maiden heifers £989.
