Jacobs hit record prices at Worcester
A Jacob centre record was set at Worcester this week when the champion from the pre-sale, a shearling ewe from D J Price’s Pentrenant flock sold for 960gns. This one, Pentrenant Ruby sold to H Ballie, Carluke, Lanark.
Elsewhere among the females on offer the top priced ewe lamb was one from Steven Dodsworth’s Overdale flock which sold at 400gns to R Stevenson, Cumbria. Second prize in the shearling ewe class went to Messrs Connor and Dalrymple and this one sold at 370gns to R Stevenson, Kirkby Stephen, Cumbria.
Topping the males was the first prize ram lamb Celtic Cerrig Du who also took the male championship and reserve supreme champion. He was sold jointly to Messrs Simmonds and Thompson for 500gns. This Dalewode oliver son, a horned ram lamb out of a home bred Celtic ewe by the renowned Owlscote Barrie was bred by Arwel Jones of Llanfynydd Carmarthen, and had previously won his class at Carmarthenshire County Show and part of the Reserve Group at the Royal Welsh.
Next best was a ram lamb from H Ballie’s Hyndshaw flock. Her entry, Hyndshaw Rory sold at 470gns to J Shinner, Buckfastleigh, Devon.
