Kirkby Stephen Swaledales reach £2800
Trade at yesterday’s sale of Swaledale aged tups and ram lambs at Kikby Stephen hit a peak of £2800 for a two shear ram foward from K Fawcett, Argill House. This one sold to Messrs Wallace, having been second in the pre-sale show.Next best call of £2200 was paid twice, the first time for one from I Collinson, Billing Shield. He was bought by Messrs Cockbain. Second to make this price was an aged tup from J h and C L Harrison which had been champion in the pre-sale show. He was taken by T H Harrison and Sons.Selling at £2100 was an aged ram from T W Cowperthwaite, Tennant Gill. Then at £2000 was an aged tup from Messrs Marston and Brogden, Easegill Head. He was bought by J and S E Bainbridge.
Making £1700 was an old tup from Bank Top, with another from P L and J Dawson, Kentmere Hall, selling at £1500 to D W Cannon and Son. Following on was one from P R E and E Marwood which sold to K Smith and Son.
Averages; 63 aged rams £747.91, 73 ram lambs £308.62 (Harrison and Hetherington).
