Knockerjig Ayrshires making steady money

Buyers are still putting their hands in their pockets to buy at today’s Knockerjig Ayrshire dispersal at Carlisle, although I have to say bearing in mind the depth of pedigree among the cows on offer and the historic performance of the herd the prices being paid are resoundingly commercial. Although, according to sources at Carlisle the cattle aren’t in prime condition to be sold.

Selling at 2900gns was Knockerjig Wren 15 a first lactation heifer by Shady Walnut Conn which is predicted to give 7983 by the end of her first.

Then at 2700gns was Knockerjig Snowbell 41 another McCornick Nelson daughter. Snowbell 41 gave 7046 in her second and is predicted at 9230 for her third having given 5356 in 143 days so far.

At 2300gns Knockerjig Linda 18 a February calved daughter of Changue Fiord found a new home with a prediction of 8430 in her fourth lactation.

Among the stock bulls on offer the top price of the day was 3200gns for Knowe Brown Patrick. Bred from two generations of Excellent rated cows, Patrick was bred by the Templetons and has a PLI of +82 and a PIN of +16 and is by Blackadder MM Patrick.
