In-lamb Texels sell to 1,000gns at Borderway
Texel in-lamb ewes sold to a high of 1,000gns at Borderway Mart, Carlisle, this week (4 January).
Sale leader was a gimmer from Robin and Caroline Orr’s Halbeath flock, Dumfermline, Fife. Sired by Crailloch Topper Mae1200829 this one is out of a Milnbank Seabird dam and sold to John M Sutherland, Thurso, Caithness, carrying twins.
Next best at 950gns was PXT1401039 from the Thacka flock of Mr and Mrs G Pyman, Penrith, Cumbria. Sired by Braehead Ulster Star this February 2014 born ewe is out of a dam by Cambwell Stewart and sold to the same buyer as the top lot, having been AI’d to Kaker Mill Velvet.
Then it was back with the Halbeath flock when a Claybury Teddy daughter sold for 850gns to PC Charleton, Kirkwhelpington, Northumberland, carrying twins.
Procters Farm’s Tatham Hall flock achieved a top call of 800gns when their Burnhead Topper daughter out of a Sportsman Scania dam, sold to IW Slater, Orphir, Orkney. She had been AI’d to Scrogtonhead U Stoater in September.
Mr Slater also paid 800gns for a Crailloch Topper Mae1200829 daughter from Messrs GH and GG Wilkinson and Mr G Wilkinson’s Arkle flock, Aspatria, Cumbria. She sold scanned in lamb with twins by Milnbank Vantastic.
The best from the Alwent and Deneside consignment made 550gns when selling to CEB Stewart, Kelso, Roxburghshire. Pen leader was a Goldies Supreme daughter out of a Deneside O’Playboy dam. She sold scanned in lamb with twins by Plasucha Will-i-am.
