Lanark Beltex set new female record at 7800gns
Beltex breeders at yesterday’s sale at Lanark for Beltex Scotland saw the breed’s record books rewritten with a new female record set at 7800gns for a shearling ewe from the Corra flock of G Forsyth.
This one, Corra Natasha, is an ET bred Brickrow Lional daughter out of Corra Lou-Lou, a King Kong daughter. She sold to Paul Tippetts and Christine Williams for the Hackney flock.
Next best female sale of the day was for a full ET sister to the record breaker, Corra Nasturtium. She also joined the Hackney flock at Shifnal, Shropshire.
Topping the males was 2400gns bid for this year’s breed champion from the Highland Show, Tiree Nutcracker from Alasdair MacLean, Isle of Tiree. He is by Beachtree Maxi Muscle and out of Clary Lottie and sold to Gavin Shanks for the Inveresk flock.
Following that at 1700gns was the best of the ram lambs, Broughton Pure Pride from Michael Dunlop. He is by Corstane Dan the Man and out of Broughton Lavendar, an Airyolland Hunter daughter. Buying this one were D I and A Gray, Lowick, Berwick.
Selling at 1500gns was another of the shearling tups Kingledores Nifty from Richard Wood. Sired by Viagrow and out of Artnagullion Kyle, a Ulysses daughter this one was bought by N Crighton, Loanend, Berwick.
A brace of tup lambs sold at 1400gns, the first being Cochrane’s Perfect from J and J Cochrane. He is by Cochrane’s Nimrod and out of Longley Garnet, a Corstane Disaster daughter and sold to Messrs McMillan, Clary, and Alasdair McLean, Tiree.
Then at the same money was Beachy Papa Doc from John Barclay. He is a Corstane Mighty Max son out of Beachy Magic Touch. This one headed to the wouth west with Louise Moorhouse, Doddiscombleigh.
