Lancaster Holsteins reach 2400gns top call
Tuesday sale of Holsteins at Lancaster saw a top call of 2400gns paid for Mark Atkinson and family’s heifer Wyredale Roy Gertrude which stood champion on the day. By Roylane Jordan she sold to Ted Fearon having calved a week ago and giving 26kg/day.
And the same buyer, who is rebuilding his family’s Waltall herd at Cartmel, claimed the next best priced lot and the reserve overall champion Kirkwood Jordan Daphne at 2000gns. Forward from Henry Cornthwaite and family this fresh calved heifer is also by Jordan and is out of an Integrity sired dam.
The same money was paid for another from the same vendors with a four week calved heifer by Talent and bred from eight generations of VG and Ex dams from the Emily family selling to A Wallbank, Longridge, giving 28kg a day.
