Lancaster Holsteins top at 6100gns

Tuesday’s sale of Holsteins at Lancaster saw a top price of 6100gns paid for the pre-sale show champion, Inspired Chapters Rose, a VG88 rated cow which gave more than 10,000kg as a heifer. This one, forward from Carl Smith, sold to Andrew Bunting, Dumfries bidding on the phone.

Second top of the day came from the sale’s biggest vendors Messrs J Burrow and Son, with their heifer Stardale Jordan Vaajke 6, a Roylane Jordan daughter bred from 11 generations of VG or EX rated dams. She sodl tto wendy Brassington, Shropshire, for the Cracking herd.

At 4000gns was another from the Burrows, this time a Shottle daughter out of Skyhigh Durham Adeen, an MS Kingstead Cheif Adeen daughter. This sold to W and S Airey, Carnforth. A full sister to this one then sold at 3000gns to J P Robson, Garrstang.

Selling at 3800gns was Ingleview Igniter Dandy, a VG86 rated heifer from Robert and Elaine Butterfield, She sold to A Bargh, Penrith.

Also at this money was the best of the day from Wilson and Stephen Boow. This was a Red Talent daughter out of a cow from their Aldina family and sold to Maurice Jones, Calcourt Farms, Montgomeryshire.

Averages; 12 cows ÂŁ2208.50, 55 calved heifers ÂŁ2327.95, one bull ÂŁ1312.50, 19 embryos ÂŁ604.02 (Norton and Brooksbank).

And another from the Butterfields made 3000gns, this was Ingleview Igniter Kelly which sold to Wndy Brassington.
