Launch of Native Breeds for Modern Needs

Native breeds will make their debut in the Native Breeds for Modern Needs exhibition at the Dairy Event and Livestock show in September.

The exhibition developed in association with the Rare Breeds Survival Trust is dedicated to demonstrating how native cattle, sheep, goats and pigs can be used to produce high-quality added-value products. And the advantages of using native breeds to manage land on extensive, low-cost production systems will also be highlighted.

RABDF chief executive, Nick Everington says, “We are delighted to introduce the Native Breeds for Modern Needs exhibition to promote the benefits of these species to commercial producers.

“Working with RBST and other industry representatives including the National Beef Association, the National Sheep Association and the British Goat Society will broaden the scope of the event.”

This will mean livestock farmers with multi-species enterprises will be able to obtain the information they need from the one event.
