Libertyview Holsteins hit 7000gns top call

Prices at Wednesday’s sale of the major portion of the Libertyview herd of Holsteins for Mike Potter reached a peak of 7000gns when Cradenhill Excellence Zet, a third lactation cow recently classified Ex, sold to John Westaway. This one, by Ocean-View Zenith is a maternal granddaughter of Krull Broker Elegance.

Next best at 4600gns was in-calf heifer Libertyview Shottle Raven, a Picston Shottle daughter out of Sterndale Eland Raven, and Ex90 dam. Bred from five generations of excellent dams she sold to Robert Voyle for their Syfni herd.

And then at 4500gns was another Shottle daughter, Libertyview Shottle Amanda, a VG86 first calver giving 39kg a day. she is out of Moorshard Dixie Amanda, a Dixie-Lee Aaron daughter and sold to R M and H D Herrod, Axminster.

Selling at 3800gns was yet another by Shottle, Libertyview Shottle Bud. This daughter of Ketby Bud 96 calved in December with her first and classified VG87. Sold giving 41kg a day she was taken by J H B Tucker, for the Clifftop herd.

After that at 3500gns was served heifer Libertyview Shottle Elegance, again by Shottle, this one is out of Cradenhill Elegance Zet, the 7000gns cow and sold having run with homebred bull Libertyview Baltimore. Buyer of this one was J G Davies for the Dafron herd.

Making 3300gns was Libertyview Zenith Delight, a VG85 classified first calver. Out of Moorshard Derry Delight, she calved in September and sold having been AI’d to Shottle in March. She sold to R H H and E N Targett and Sons for the Carymoor herd.

The final bid above 3000gns came at 3200gns for Libertyview Goldwyn Bridget. She is a May 2009-born heifer calf by Braedale Goldwyn and out of Mikali Progress Bridget, bred from six generations of VG or Ex cows she sold to D M and P Coombes for the Mikali herd.
