Limousin females sell to 15,500gns at Carlisle
The British Limousin Cattle Society Breeders’ Sale at Carlisle saw bidding peak at 15,500gns for a maiden heifer from Jonathan Watson’s Tweeddale herd, Berwick Upon Tweed, Northumberland.
Tweeddale Inita, sired by Goldies Fandango and out of the Grahams Trooper daughter Tweeddale Anita, sold with a beef value of LM+41 to John Rawburn, Roxburgh Mains, Kelso.
Mr Watson also achieved the second best price of the day when Kevin Watret, Northfieldpark, Annan, paid 12,000gns for the 19-month-old heifer Tweeddale Harika, again by Goldies and out of the Newhouse Cyclone daughter Tweeddale Feefee. She boasted a big beef value of LM+53.
The Trueman herd of Henry Savage and Sons, Newry, Co Down earned a top price of 9,500gns for their August 2013-born Ampertaine Elgin daughter Trueman Isabelle. She is out of their 2011 National Limousin supreme champion Trueman Euphonium. She was snapped up by James Alexander for his Jalex Herd based in Randalstown, Co Antrim.
Next best at 8,000gns was Goldies Infinity from Bruce Goldie, Mouswald, Dumfries. This August 2013-born calf was sold suckling her recipient dam. She is by Haltcliffe Doctor, a Rossignol son, and out of the noted breeding female Goldies Vitality, whose progeny has sold up to 30,000gns. She was knocked down to Tecwyn Jones, Llanrwst, Gwynedd.
Ian and Wendy Callion, Bolfornought Farm, Stirling, realised a top price of 6,200gns for a French bred cow from their Lodge contingent. This was for the 2006-born Beaute, which was imported from breeders Gaec Dessalas as a yearling heifer. Sired by Tenor, she is out of Poupee and sold with her November 2013-born bull calf, Lodge Imperial, at foot and back in-calf to Ampertaine Commander. Buyers were WA Mowat, Lybster, Caithness for their Whiteleen herd.
Having earlier purchased a Trueman heifer, RJ Mowbray, Newtownstewart, was back in the bidding when taking home the 6,000gns top priced consignment from the Haltcliffe herd of Messrs Ridley, Haltcliffe, Cumbria. This was for the September 2012-born Haltcliffe Harriot, by Larkhill Firmount and out of Haltcliffe Emma, a Sympa daughter, making her full sister to the 43,000gns Haltcliffe Ullswater.
Three lots made 5,500gns.
First of these was the March 2012 born Trueman Hosanna, by Ampertaine Commander and out of Cookstown B1425, a Cookstown Villy daughter. She is a maternal sister to the 14,000gns Trueman Grazia, the Reserve Overall Champion at Balmoral 2012 and Overall Champion Red Ladies 2012. Trueman Hosanna went under the hammer in-calf to the 30,000gns Anside Flint. Buyer was also RJ Mowbray.
Also at 5,500gns was Hatcliffe Herb, sired by Hatcliffe DJ and is out of Haltcliffe Fantasy, a Greenwell Major daughter. Herb is a maternal sister to the 28,000gns Haltcliffe Dynasty and in-calf to Haltcliffe Fencer to Highfields Park Farm, Hartfield, E Sussex.
Last at this money was her stablemate Haltcliffe Hesta, which was knocked down to James Alexander. By Ampertaine Elgin and out of Haltclifee Emily, a Cloughhead Umpire daughter, she sold in-calf to Larkhill Firmount.
