Limousin takes top call of 5200gns at Thainstone

Aberdeen and Northern Marts’ mid-week multi-breed show and sale of pedigree bulls attracted the crowds to Inverurie’s Thainstone Centre this week, which saw a Limousin lead trade at 5200gns.

The sale leader came from Michael Massie, Auchnagatt whose April 2006-born Elrick Baptist by Croftlimousin Spencer sold to E Robertson, Bixter.

Limousin%20%28blog%29.jpgThe overall and Charolais champion was March 2006-born Harestone Bruno by Rumsden Samurai, exhibited by R and N Barclay, Crathes. It sold to M G Anderson, Ballater for 3300gns. Harestone Bruno took the reserve Charolais championship at the Spring Show in February.

Reserve Charolais champion also went to the Barclay’s, for the April 2006-born Harestone Bullet by Harestone Ronsard which sold to I Wilson, Banchory for 2700gns.

Other leading prices in the Limousin section included a 3600gns call from A S and J Stanger, Fraserburgh for April 2006-born Clonlara Blackie from N and E Cruickshank, Lanark.

A and J Forsyth, Aberlour paid 3400gns for July 2006-born Shannas Buchan by Dyke Thunder from Mr and Mrs J Penny, Peterhead.

A total of 17 animals were sold and averages were as follows – 10 Limousins £2,759.50; 6 Charolais £2,607.50 and 1 Aberdeen-Angus £997.50
