Lincoln Reds sell to 5100gns on strong Newark trade

Lincoln Red bulls sold to a high of 5100gns at Newark on Saturday on a trade which saw another two trade at 5000gns and females sell to 2100gns twice.

Taking the day’s best call under the gavel of Paul Gentry was Hemingby Elliot from Michael Read. This Market Stainton Goodman son is out of Hemingby Bridget and is a June 2009-born bull with a beef value of +32. He was bought by F and B Hullagh and Son.First of two to sell at 5000gns was Beverley Mandate from R I Clough and Son. Sired by Market Stainton Governor, this March 2009-born bull is out of Beverley Ella, a Hemingby Saracen daughter and has a beef value of +38. This one was snapped up by Sutton Estates.The other to make this price was Market Stainton Merrymaker from Robert Needham and Son. This one, sired by Hemingby Bevan is out of Market Stainton Eva 4, a Fenton Challenger daughter. He was reserve breed champion at Woodhall Spa show last year and was knocked down to P E A Wood.A pair shared the next top call of 4200gns too, with the first at this price being Walmer Magee from H M and J M Needler. This one, a son of Beverley Henchman and out of Walmer Bianca, a Walmer Prince daughter, was bought by H W Martin Farms.

Then at 4200gns was the champion from the pre-sale show, Market Stainton Matador, again from the Needhams. He is another Hemingby Bevan son and is out of Market Stainton Dot 7, a Hemingby Rhodes daughter. This one was sold to Nottingham Consultants, Nottingham.Best in the females on offer was the female champion from the pre-sale show Hemingby Bridget from Michael Read. This is a St Fort Essex daughter out of an Anwick Chancellor daughter and has a beef value of +27. She went home with R and I Mee.

Also taking this price and selling to the same new home was in-calf heifer from Michael Read, Hemingby Mattie. This February 2009-born heifer is by Market Stainton Goodman and out of Hemingby Mattie, an Anwick Chancellor daughter. She sold in-calf to the breed record holder Walmer Legend and is due in August.

Then selling at 2000gns was another in-calf heifer from the Hemingby herd, Hemingby Polly. She is a St Fort Essex daughter and is out of an Anwick Chancellor daughter. Once again in-calf to Walmer Legend, she is due in August too and also sold to Messrs Mee.

Making 1750gns was Wragby Gift from G W Bolton. Sired by Anwick Fortune she is out of Wragby Gift, a Thorndale David daughter and sold to J L Bolton.
