ASSISTING INTAKE of dry food in calves with the feed additive Feed Up can increase growth rates, according to R H Fields Nutrition.

This appetite stimulant, based on selected salts and minerals, aims to encourage secretion of digestive juices to promote efficient feed digestion, says the company. Trials in Norfolk showed feed intake increased by 20% with an increase in liveweight gain from purchasing of nine weeks of age of 7kg.

Costing 7/kg, Feed Up is added to dry feed at a rate of 2-3kg/t (01432 851 111; fax 01432 850 144).
