Lleyn female sale at Carlisle tops 1,500gns
A top call of 1,500gns was achieved at the annual February sale of Lleyn females, held on behalf of the Lleyn Sheep Society at Borderway Mart, Carlisle.
Capturing the leading price was a shearling from Messrs E and D Jones, Lluest Wen, Powys. Sired by Ballylinney Action Man out of a W24/172 daughter, the first of this potent genetic combination to be offered at auction, she was sold in-lamb (single) to Bronallt Big Daddy. She travels to Caernarfon with buyers A G and G Hughes.
Trading at 1,000gns was the shearling and overall champion from James K Goldie, Dumfries. Sired by their homebred ram Leader, the stylish gimmer carried a top 10% Carcase Index and was scanned carrying twins to 1101568. Buying again were A G and G Hughes, Gwynnedd.
