Maiden heifer elite sale tops £3390 for Shottle daughter
And the demand for quality dairy stock continues……
A packed ringside of buyers met enthusiastic bidding and the 22 maiden heifers forward for the Best of the West Elite sale averaged £2415 for Kivells auctioneers.
The top call of £3390 went to Ciderhouse Shottle Talia PI from Messrs D J and V M Norman, Dorset and went to the Toyota herd – a joint venture between the Coryn and Wills families.
Other principal prices included £3780 for Culverhayes Shottle Lydia from Honiton-based C J Reed and purchased by Robert Harris of the Winkleigh herd. Following the elite sale, the annual dairy evening kicked off with a bng when a top call of £3150 was achieved for Crichel Mandate Anne 197 from Treginegar Dairy Farms and purchased by Messrs Phillips Partnership, Cornwall.
Topping the cow in milk section was Penwindsor Outside Patsy from Jeremy Whitehead and family to the Toyota herd, Cornwall.
Kivells recorded an overall average of £1999.
