Main East of England results
Well its been a busy day for the Taking Stock Team, Chrissie has been up in Scotland at Alyth judging the interbreed beed championships at Alyth Show, Perthshire, where she awarded the overall title to Jimmy MacMillan’s Charolais cow and calf and the reserve title to the Limousin bull from the McLaren family.
I meanwhile was judging Southdowns at Aberystwyth Show, Wales, and this afternoon made the trip across from there to this weekend’s East of England Show, Peterborough, from where I can now bring you the main championship winners.
In the sheep lines it was the turn of Henry Derryman, Devon, to officiate in the interbreed and he found his champion in Phil Kettle’s Hampshire Down shearling ram, with Basil Cooper’s Southdown shearling ram taking the reserve spot.
Among the beef cattle Danny Wyllie, Tamworth, Shrops, had the task of picking out the interbreed champion and his choice was Peter Gooderham’s Limousin heifer Sundale Bonbon.
Reserve spot here went to Mrs Clarke’s Simmental bull Williams Voldemort. Dairy interbreed judging takes place tomorrow, but the pig classes were judged today and the interbreed here went to P E Churchyard’s Large Black boar Breckles Majestic 20.
Pictures will follow tomorrow, providing my laptop battery lasts that long…..
